Join us for Dr. Ardi Imseis’ book launch at the University of Windsor’s Faculty of Law building on March 11, 2024 from 12:00pm-2:00pm.
The United Nations and the Question of Palestine uncovers a persistent gap between the principles of international law and the UN’s approach to the question of Palestine. Dr. Imseis critically examined how this disparity has manifested over time, probing the UN’s failure to adhere to international legal norms and its ramifications. Rather than strict adherence to international law, the author contends that the UN’s actions often reflect what he terms “international rule by law,” wherein the promise of justice for Palestine remains elusive. Through meticulous analysis, Imseis reveals how Palestine and its people have been relegated to a state of “international legal subalternity,” where the rhetoric of justice is repeatedly overshadowed by political expediency.
